The Continental Planning Commission may have set a record for its shortest meeting on Tuesday.
The two agenda items were discussed without public comment for or against the requests and the meeting was adjourned 15 minutes after its start.
Council members voted unanimously to approve a request to rezon 20 Trade Street from general commercial to office commercial. The intent is to reduce the types of commercial uses permitted on the property.
The zoning change was also requested for banking purposes, the plaintiff said.
The other item on the agenda was site plan approval for a one-acre site at 4202 Norwich Street Extension. The Applicant plans to construct a 9,504 square foot office building with four separate offices.
The applicant requested approval for a waiver for a requirement for connectivity between parcels, which requires parking lots that connect to adjacent businesses. This requirement is intended to allow motorists to reach connecting businesses without returning to the road.
Council members were advised that the requirement is more common near Interstate 95 and that many businesses near the proposed office building already benefit from the waiver.
Council members unanimously approved the application without requiring the requirement for connectivity between parcels.
